Martinez Joins Calls for 2022 General Assembly Elections, Equal Representation

LEESBURG, VA - Leesburg Vice Mayor and candidate for House District 29 Marty Martinez released the following statement regarding the possibility of General Assembly elections in 2022:

“The 2020 Census distinguished Loudoun County as the fastest growing locality in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Under the current General Assembly maps, my neighbors and I are severely and disproportionally underrepresented in Richmond. Due to Census delays, our House of Delegates elections diluted the voice of Loudoun citizens. Loudoun County contains the top two overpopulated State Senate districts and four of the top ten overpopulated House of Delegates districts. If we are to guarantee a Commonwealth where all votes are equal, I believe we must have House of Delegates elections in 2022.”
